Probe panel on Agni airplane crash starts investigation

The black-box of Dornier 228 belonging to Agni Air that crashed in Shikharapur VDC of Makwanpur last week has been found today, one week after the crash. The Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and Flight Data Recorder (FDR) of the plane were recovered from the impact ditch created when the aircraft dived into the ground. It was buried 15ft below the ground. Rescue workers had used an excavator to look for the black box. The recovered equipments are vital for the investigation into the cause of the crash.

The five-member probe committee formed to investigate Agni airplane crash in Makwanpur last week began its work from Sunday. The committee members visited the crash site at Shikharapur of Makwanpur district today and requested local authority to expedite the search for cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and flight data recorder (FDR), which have not been found despite frantic search. According to Suresh Acharya, the committee's spokesperson, the panel has also made an announcement of cash reward of rupees 50,000 to anybody finding those vital equipments. Headed by aviation expert Kumar Prasad Upadhyay, the committee is comprised of Acharya, Rajan Pokharel, Sharada Bhakta Rajbhandari and Rajendra Man Shakya. The committee has been given 65 days to submit the probe report. APF gives cash incentive to first person to inform about crash Meanwhile, Armed Police Force (APF) has provided Rs 5000 as incentive to Bhaktaraj Shyangtang, a local of Bastipur in Shikharapur VDC, Makwanpur, where an Agni Air's dornier 228 crashed last week for informing the APF about the crash promptly, Shyangtang had informed APF Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Shailendra Kumar Shrestha about the crash few minutes after the crash. APF regional headquarters in Pathlaiya had dispatched a 35-member rescue squad immediately to crash site. The rescue squad was stationed in the crash site till Sunday morning.
